Suggested ages 7–8

Learning journey

Your child is learning practical measurement skills — using rulers and other tools to measure length, weight, and volume accurately, working with money, and telling time to the nearest minute.

Evidence of understanding

  • Measure a length in centimetres and millimetres
  • Weigh an object using grams and kilograms
  • Add two measurements in the same unit (e.g. 250 ml + 400 ml = 650 ml)

Assessment prompt

If Calculating with measurements pours 350 ml into a jug and then adds another 275 ml, can they work out the total — and tell you how much more is needed to reach 1 litre?
